CASE STUDY #1

Fire destroyed the Tarunda Supermarket including the Post Office and other offices in Fitzroy Crossing on Wednesday 8th July 2009. No one was prepared for the massive effort required to restore the essential services provided by the store to the community but thankfully AIB had recently visited on site to conduct a complete review of the insurance program and correct covers were in place to meet the challenge. AIB staff regularly visit remote Aboriginal Communities throughout Australia to conduct reviews of their insurance requirements. AIB activated the claims process with QBE Insurance and an experienced assessor was on the job as soon as transport could be arranged.

Leedal’s Manager John Rodrigues says

“I am grateful we had a broker like AIB who have dealt with Aboriginal community organisations for over 25 years at the end of the phone to reassure us we had correct covers in place and to coordinate our claim.”

The management and Board of Leedal Pty Ltd who operate the business on behalf of the Fitzroy River Trust were able to gain the cooperation of the community and local Shire Council to secure temporary premises from which to operate. Essential services were restored within 24 hours and supermarket trading commenced within another couple of days. John Rodrigues also said:

“Rhys Davies (AIB Branch Manager) was always available to take my calls when the stress of project managing the rebuild encountered stumbling blocks. Rhys was able to guide me and assist with negotiations with QBE and the consultants involved. QBE Claims Manager, Greg Stacey was excellent to deal with and positively managed our claim whenever there was an issue. I rate the service from the AIB team and QBE very highly and am happy to recommend them.”

CASE STUDY #2

We’ve been continuous AIB clients since 1996, when we arrived on the Sunshine Coast. We engaged them to handle all our insurance needs, while we spent our precious time more fruitfully in growing our business. The 2 or 3 claims made in that time were all resolved speedily and without difficulty.

11 years later, our new picture hanging business had different insurance needs. We work in people’s homes, handle valuable artwork and navigate around furniture, pets and children. So it’s vital we have the right insurance and we rely on AIB to find it for us. It’s reassuring to know that we’re protected and our clients are too.
